Procedural Services

Procedural services include examinations and treatments used to evaluate the digestive tract, bile ducts, pancreas and nearby organs.

Upper Endoscopy (EGD)

Esophagogastroduodenoscopy uses a flexible endoscope to examine the lining of the esophagus, stomach and upper duodenum. Tissue samples may be collected, and certain problems—such as a narrowed area of the esophagus—may be treated during the procedure.

Colonoscopy

Colonoscopy uses a thin, flexible camera to examine the rectum and colon. It can identify inflammation, bleeding, ulcers, tumors and polyps. The procedure may also include biopsies or removal of abnormal growths and can be used for colorectal cancer screening.

Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)

ERCP is a specialized technique used to examine the bile ducts, pancreatic duct and gallbladder.

Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)

EUS combines endoscopy and ultrasound to examine the walls of the upper or lower gastrointestinal tract and nearby organs, including the liver, gallbladder and pancreas. It may be used to investigate lesions, evaluate pancreatic or biliary disease and assess the extent of gastrointestinal cancers.

Small Bowel Capsule Endoscopy

Capsule endoscopy uses a swallowable, pill-sized camera to photograph the small intestine. Images are transmitted to a recording device and reviewed later by the physician.

Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG)

PEG placement creates access for a flexible feeding tube through the abdominal wall and into the stomach. The tube allows nutrition, fluids or medication to enter the stomach while bypassing the mouth and esophagus.
